How to Vet a Window Installer (Before You Sign Anything)
A no-BS checklist for choosing a contractor who won't disappear when the caulk dries. The installation matters as much as the window itself. A great window installed poorly will leak, sag, and void its own warranty. Here's how to separate the pros from the guys with a truck and a Facebook page.

Ask for these five things
Proof of liability insurance AND workers' comp — not just one
Manufacturer certification for the specific window brand they're installing
At least three local references from jobs 2+ years old (not last month)
A written warranty covering both the product AND the labor
A clear, itemized quote — no lump-sum 'trust me' pricing
Red flags
Door-to-door sales pressure. 'Today-only' pricing. A demand for more than 30% up front. No physical address. Reviews that all landed the same week. Any of these show up, walk away.
Green flags
A crew that pulls the permit for you. A project manager you can text. Cleanup included in writing. Photos of past jobs on their own phones, not just their website.
